The Cadet Leadership 1 course is the first introduction to Leadership skills available to St John Cymru Wales members. This course aims to develop participants’ leadership abilities and provide a safe environment in which to practice new skills.
Whilst promotion to the rank of Corporal and Sergeant is not permitted without successful attendance on this course, it is important to note that completion of the course does not guarantee promotion. The course should be run on a residential basis in order for participants to gain the maximum benefit.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- State different styles of leadership
- Explain the concept of action-centred leadership
- State the qualities required of a Cadet Non Commissioned Officer (NCO)
- Demonstrate programme planning abilities
- Run a safe and effective games session within the Unit
- State the different resources available to leaders within St John
