Overseas development work is a core activity within our national programme for 16 -25 year olds. Members have recently travelled to Zambia, India, Hungary, New Zealand and Australia, providing them with vital development skills and life changing experiences.
Global Humanitarian Project 2014 – Czech Republic
In September 2014, two leaders and eight of our volunteers travelled to the Czech Republic to teach lifesaving first aid skills and learn more about the local culture. The work took place in the village of Ceske Kopisty, a small village near the town of Litomerice. As well as teaching first aid skills within the community, our youth members worked on an organic farm which is dependent on volunteer help. They were also involved in activities such as planting, harvesting, watering, as well as renovation and construction work. Exploring the city of Prague was also an exciting addition to the visit!
Youth Trip 2013- Russia
In March 2013, a group of youth members travelled to a children’s centre in Smolensk, Russia to teach individuals lifesaving first aid skills through the BabySafe course. 40 parents and carers were taught how to deal with common accidents and injuries among children, and our youth members also spent time in the respite centre assisting with daily tasks and experiencing Russian culture.
