RISE

RISE stands for ‘Respect, Inspire, Support, Empower’ and was created to benefit 14-25 year olds who are not currently in education, employment or training. The project responds to specific community needs and helps the personal development of young people in hard-to-reach areas by teaching them new skills and improving their self esteem.

The RISE project helps St John Cymru Wales to teach young people how to cope in emergency situations and provides first aid training for so young people can be the important difference between life and death.

Peer-to-peer and leadership training is also provided, ensuring that participants can go on to become youth leaders or first aid trainers themselves. This project offers several opportunities to gain nationally accredited qualifications, and along with other young people, you will create and lead your own Social Action Project that addresses the needs of people in the local area. As part of this programme, you will also receive support to create a CV, apply for work, education or training as well as access to confidence building sessions.

The programme is designed for young people who are:

  • Aged 14-25 and not in employment, education or training
  • Interested in gaining qualifications and teaching other young people
  • Want to make a difference in their community

One of the main aims of this project is to help young people develop the skills, experience, behaviours and attitudes necessary to move on to education, training and employment. We believe that with the right support and a positive attitude you can reach your goals!
